Media Reports: A man returning home from work early Monday morning spotted a person slumped against his detached garage. About First Responders PrayerWalking:
  • The Bible says that human bloodshed is violence to the land and all its inhabitants. First Responders helps to mobilize the body of Christ to timely onsite prayer at crisis events in our community. We want to say to victims and neighborhoods: “You are not alone! We are from churches all over Omaha coming together to stand united against violence.”
  • First Responder PrayerWalks are a community response to violence. They are not prayer-vigils on behalf of the family. Family members are invited if we have contact info, and our team reaches out to care and minister to them as Jesus would.
  • First Responders encourages people in neighborhoods to connect and get involved with local churches and organizations. We work to help people get to know their local police better, communicate, build trust and work with our police in reducing violence.
  • In 2007 John Ewing and Dave Gehrls developed First Responders in partnership with Omaha 360, Empower Omaha, OPD, and other local groups. If you would like to be added to the First Responder team, send an email to Dave at [email protected] with your personal contact info and the church you attend.

NEW: PrayerWalking Quick Start Guide

See Your City With The Eyes Of Christ
We just printed a new PrayerWalking Quick Start Guide in English and Spanish which summarizes what the Lord has taught us in over 20 years of mobilizing PrayerWalks. Click on link to see a pdf, printed copies are available upon request. But first, please take a moment to read how this came to be.

Jesus said He only did what He saw His Father doing. When we stop asking God to follow us into our community and start following Him we see greater favor and blessing on ministry. Who is He preparing for salvation like Cornelius Who does He want to see healed or set free today?

Like Joshua before the angel at Jericho, God was there plan to take the city and the question is not is He with us but are we with Him? So when we begin by asking to see our city with the "Eyes of Christ" He will show and give us His heart and plan for our city.

Since 1997 we have mobilized several types of city-wide prayer walks and have now identified Ten Types of PrayerWalks that will help us connect to God's heart and plan to transform our city...other cities will have similar prayer access points.

In Omaha the primary hurt and felt need in our city is from violence. In 2006 Deputy Chief of Police John Ewing came to me and said that the police cannot stop the violence alone and we needed to get the churches involved. While PrayerWalking and PrayerDriving in a mini-bus the Lord spoke to a group of ministry leaders: "Make it costly for Satan to kill people in this city."

Following the Von Maur shootings at Westroads Mall in December of 2007 we felt the Lord leading us to mobilize First Responders and call people to pray at the site of every homicide within 24-48 hours. We now have PW over 250 homicide sites. In the beginning it was often just 3 or 4 of us standing in the snow. Now over half the time we have 50-100 as friends, family and neighbors come out of their homes to join us. News videos and pictures are available in resource section in right column of blog.

This PrayerWalking Quick Start Guide is designed to help people quickly get started or grow in PrayerWalking. PrayerWalking does not make our prayers more powerful...PrayerWalking is a tool to help us see our city with the eyes of Christ.

PrayerWalking Workshops: Dave has developed a PrayerWalking workshop where we learn by doing. We begin with an interactive PrayerWalk of a church then a brief neighborhood training PrayerWalk and debrief.

Outstanding article on Gay Marriage by San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone

'To legalize marriage between two people of the same sex would enshrine in the law the principle that mothers and fathers are interchangeable or irrelevant.'

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone chairs the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage. Here are his views on the subject in response to questions from USA TODAY:

I have the privilege of being on the planning committee for the More God Less Crime Conference which will include the FBI, NE State Police, Douglas County Sheriffs, Omaha Police Dept, Omaha 360, many non-profits, churches and ministries. It is endorsed by almost everyone from the NE Attorney General to Tom Osborne.

Wherever people of faith get more involved in helping police to combat crime, crime dramatically and statistically goes down. Our guest Dr. Byron Johnson,, is one of America's leading Criminologists and author of "More God Less Crime." The Conference is sponsored by Good News Jail & Prison Ministry Cell Adoption Program and Omaha Churches. There will be updates on what Faith Based Groups are doing in Omaha including panels of local leaders. Lunch is being provided and we will have a schedule out next week.

"Your children are not yours – they are owned by the community"

This is just another piece of the Agenda behind the Sexual Orientation Agenda (See my Ministry Update Below).

" professor and MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry says your children are not yours – they are owned by the community. She says public education has failed because we have not allowed the state to confiscate more of our money."

“We have to break through our private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families,” says the professor of political science at Tulane University, where she is founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Project on Gender, Race, and Politics in the South. Kids belong to whole communities, she insists, and once we realize this we’ll make “better investments” in government indoctrination of children.

And that is just the beginning from this outstanding article from Infowars Kurt is a bit more:
"Harris-Perry’s homage to the state was part of a two-year long, multi-million dollar advertising campaign by MSNBC. The network, created through a merger between Microsoft and the death merchant General Electric, has long provided ideological fodder for president Obama, the proud Marxist (as Yuri Maltsev, former advisor to Mikhail Gorbachev, characterized him). “We can go backward, or we can keep moving forward,” he said during a speech at Carnegie Mellon University. “And I don’t know about you, but I want to move forward.”

It’s no mistake Obama’s handlers and MSNBC adopted the slogan. The word “forward” has a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It was frequently used as a name for socialist and communist newspapers and periodicals in the 20th century. “The slogan ‘Forward!’ reflected the conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which would move forward past capitalism and into socialism and communism,” writes Victor Morton.

It seems incomprehensible that a multinational corporation like MSNBC would embrace communism. In fact, as Gary Allen noted, it is quite natural.

“If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth program, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of superrich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all,” he wrote. “Instead it becomes the logical, even the perfect tool of power-seeking megalomaniacs. Communism, or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite.”
