First Responders Double Homicide PrayerWalk: Today, Tuesday,
July 10th, 5:30-6:00 PM,
2736 S. 9th St. (South of 9th &
Bancroft)
Media Reports: Father and son shot to death and second son
critical when gunfire erupted in their home early Monday morning. Police
were called to 2736 S. Ninth St. at 3:45 a.m. They arrived to find Jose Avalos,
16, dead and two other males suffering from life-threatening injuries. His
father, Miguel Avalos, 44, died later at the Nebraska Medical Center, police
said. The third victim, Miguel Avalos Jr., 18, is still in critical condition.
All three live at 2736 S. Ninth St.
Investigators described the three as targets, not random
victims. Neighbors are speaking out about the increase in violence in this once
quiet neighborhood.
Directions: At 5:30 PM, we will meet on the sidewalk
near 2736 S. 9th Street, (South of 9th & Bancroft). This is
a crowded street so we will adjust and adapt when we get there.
Please Note: First Responder PrayerWalks are not
“prayer-vigils” on behalf of the family but a community response to
violence. Family members are invited if we have contact info, and our team
reaches out to care and minister to them as Jesus would.
